Shinichi Kudo (Jimmy Kudo) has solved numerous cases for the police. In fact, he is called the modern day Sherlock Holmes. The day after solving one of these cases, Ran Mouri (Rachel Moore) has him take her on a date to Tropical Land, an amusement park. However, this day does not turn out to be the most enjoyable day.
The day is ruined by a murder that takes place on a roller coaster. Because of this, Shinichi gets involved in another case. Everyone suspects the victim's girlfriend, but the truth is revealed to be the ex-girlfriend of the victim, because of her athletic abilities and the direction of where the tears that hit Shinichi came from.
That is not all though. Shinichi leaves Ran behind, due to curiousity of what Vodka, one of the unknown men dressed in black shown during the roller coaster murder case, was doing. Following Vodka's trail, Shinichi witnesses a blackmail and is knocked out by Vodka's partner, Gin, another unknown man that dressed in black that was shown earlier. They give him an experimental poison called APTX4869, thinking it would kill him. However, Shinichi wakes up in the body of a child.
